Kali Linux, by Offensive Security, has recently released its new version of penetration testing OS Kali Linux 2020.2 with some new features. Here, they have provided a lot of tools with their updates from the previous versions.

Requirements:

Before proceeding with the installation, let's see the required things:

First of all we have to make Kali Linux bootable via USB.

Click here to see that first.

Next, we have to create a separate partition for Kali Linux. So open Disk Management by clicking on the start button and typing disk management.

And the UI looks like this 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻

Create a new partition of at least 30GB by shrinking an existing volume. Here, we created a new partition of 100 GB.

Now restart your PC/Laptop, go to the boot manager, and select the option boot as USB. Now you will see the installation window for Kali Linux.

TIP:- Press the NOVO button with a pin or any other thing like that (for LENOVO Laptops)

Step 1:-

Start Installation

There are different options for installing Kali Linux. Here you have to choose “Graphical Install”.

Step 2:-

Select a language

Choose the language to be used for the installation process. And press “Continue.

Step 3:-

Select your Location

Choose your country and continue the installation process.

Step 4:-

Keyboard Configuration

Next, set the type of keyboard layout. Here I have selected American English.

Step 5:-

Network Configuration

Now the installation will ask for a hostname. Set any name you want. It is a kind of username and password. Here we are proceeding with "Kali" as the hostname.

Then you can leave the domain name as blank also...👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻

Step 6:-

Set up Users and Passwords

In this step, you have to enter the name of the user (hostname). After entering that, click “Continue”.

Then you have to set the passwords for the root user. Here is the images below👇🏻👇🏻

Step 7:-

Partition Disks

In this step, the installation setup will review and analyze the disks and offer us four choices, as shown in the below screenshot.

For our example, we will be using the entire disk; hence, we will choose the first option (as a newbie).

Step 8:-

Partition Disks

After selecting our partitioning method, we need to select the disk to be partitioned.

Step 9:-

Partitioning Scheme

Based on our needs, we can either keep all the directories on a single disk or choose to have distinct partitions for the directories. If we are not sure about the options, it will be good to select the option “All files in one partition”.

But as I mentioned above, this is for newbies, so we will select the first one.

Step 10:-

Review Changes

This is the review page, where we can double-check the configuration settings we've chosen and make sure they've all been made correctly. Once we click Continue, the installer will begin working, and any changes it makes are permanent and cannot be changed later. Since all the key steps have been completed, we will have almost finished our installation here.

Step 12:-

For making partition changes, select "Yes."

Step 13:-

And the setup will appear as shown in the screenshot below:

Step 14:-

Configure the Package Manager

In this step, we will configure network mirrors, and if applicable, we will also enter any necessary proxy information.

Click "Yes" to proceed.

Step 15:-

Install GRUB

To continue, select "Yes."

Step 16:-

Kali installation

We have finally finished installing Kali. The system will restart into the Kali installation after clicking the Continue button.

Voila, we've completed this as well.

Now that the new OS is installed, you can begin working on it.
